This article from PBS is mostly a compilation of quotes many European church leaders. It gives a interesting insight into the challenges facing the church in Europe.
There is also some hope reflected in new church elements like the Alpha Course, which we had great success with in Holland at HICC. You’ll see in the right column at the bottom some comments from Nicky Gumbel (founder) among others.
The Bridge will begin it’s “building” phase this September. There will be at least four families involved by the first Sunday in September, but we have every reason to believe many more will join us.
Many friends and churches have responded generously, so we have ALMOST completed our fundraising (the only thing keeping us from buying our tickets). Only $375 in monthly support is needed (or the equivalent in one-time gifts– $13,500). We praise God that He is providing in the midst of all the economic gloom we hear from the news each day! (For anyone wanting to submit a new pledge or adjust a current one, click here. Email us about any one-time contributions so we’ll know they are coming.)We hope to leave for France the week of July 20. Please pray that God provides everything needed SOON, so we can finalize our plans to move.
A big answer to prayer– we praise God for helping us find a family-friendly language school so close to our target area for The Bridge!
Pray for housing to be found, needed financial commitments to come in, and moving plans to go smoothly!

More and more people and churches are supporting us in “Building the Church in Paris.” We currently need just $1500 in monthly support (March 4). We also still need to raise a little for our cash budget. We need to apply for our visas in the next month or so to secure our departure for this summer.
Thank you to all who are praying for us, and for those who have committed to the monthly finances for our ministry! If you want to do so, fill out this form, or click here to read more about support options. It’s an amazing feeling to be part of such a great support team. Our commitment is to pray for you, and ask God to do great things through our partnership!

The Bridge logo has been re-designed by a European branding professional who helped fine tune the image for this new international church and ministry center. The Bridge website will launch by March 1. (see sneak peak video below)
More research has been done on facilities for The Bridge. Most relevant now is a building in the heart of the Western suburbs, strategically located for Paris’ international population.
The Bridge’s website will launch in the next few weeks [edit: now live at www.thebridgeparis.com], but here is a sneak peak at the first content item for that website.

Not yet posted here, below is a video describing the overall project preparation and vision for The Bridge.

We have had good news on several fronts lately. We have found a 2nd language school option (click here for link if you find the topic interesting). The most difficult criteria to find is organized childcare for Luke. This school’s schedule also gives us more flexibility on our departure date, and is in the Paris region so we will have an easier time settling in and avoid extra travel as the church planting process begins later this year.
We have seen some significant progress in our fundraising as well. (more…)

We’re celebrating Christmas in Dothan, AL… after seeing a couple of our friends & family “elf” themselves, Tessa & Sophia insisted that we try it! The video’s expiring, but here’s the link–click here– if you want to try. Otherwise, here’s a picture of the result:
We want to wish each of you a wonderful Christmas time. It’s a wondrous thing to celebrate Christ’s birth. Cherish the memories and time you share with loved ones this month!
We are only a few months away from leaving for France, but it seems like just yesterday we left Hilversum in The Netherlands. To celebrate what God has done that past two years, see HICC’s website by clicking here, and see an article in EU Digest about the 2nd church plant in Almere by clicking here (or see the Almere church– NDIC– via their website here).
This year has reminded us that just as God accomplished his great purpose by becoming flesh, He continues to work through humanity to reach the world. The incredible partnership of churches and missionaries shows God has a unique part of His plan for each of us!(more…)
